Salonica View Travel Agency is organising a special one-day pilgrimage excursion to the Holy Monastery of St. Heraclidios and the Holy Monastery of Panagia Machairas, followed by a visit to the beautiful, traditional village of Lefkara.
A Few Words About Our Excursion
We will depart from Nicosia (St. Stylianos Church / Strovolos).
Our first stop will be the Holy Monastery of St. Heraclidios in Politiko, where we will have the opportunity to pray, speak with the nuns, explore the monastery and enjoy a traditional treat offered by the sisters.
We will then visit the Holy Monastery of Panagia Machairas, one of the most important monasteries in Cyprus, located on the lush green slopes of the Machairas Mountains at an altitude of approximately 900 metres. There will be time for prayer and worship.
Our excursion continues to the picturesque village of Lefkara, where we will have free time for coffee, a walk through its charming narrow streets and shopping for local products.
Our final stop will be Skarinou, where we will have free time for lunch and relaxation before returning to Nicosia.
Places of Interest
Holy Monastery of St. Heraclidios – Politiko
The monastery is dedicated to St. Heraclidios, the first Bishop of Tamassos, who was ordained by the Apostles Paul and Barnabas and was martyred at the age of 60.
The first church was built around 400 AD at the site of his tomb. The monastery has been renovated several times, with its present structure dating back to 1773.
Today, it operates as a convent and houses the holy relics of St. Heraclidios.
Holy Monastery of Panagia Machairas
The Monastery of Panagia Machairas is one of the most important and historic monasteries in Cyprus, surrounded by the beautiful green landscape of the Machairas Mountains.
It houses the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, known as Panagia Machairiotissa, which, according to tradition, was painted by St. Luke the Evangelist.
Lefkara
A picturesque traditional village, internationally famous for its exquisite handmade lace, known as Lefkaritika, and its silver craftsmanship.

Note 1 – Booking and Departure Point
When making your reservation, please indicate in the message which bus departure point you have selected.
Note 2 – Safety Instructions
For the smooth operation of the excursion and for safety reasons, all participants must follow the instructions provided by the group escorts.
Note 3 – Weather Conditions and Cancellation
If the excursion is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for another date.
Participants who are unable to attend on the new date will receive a refund.
If weather conditions prevent the excursion from taking place on the rescheduled date, the event will be permanently cancelled and all participants will receive a full refund.
Note 4 – Photography and Social Media
Photographs from our excursions are shared on our website and social media platforms after each event.
By participating in a Salonica View excursion, you agree to the publication of photographs in which you may appear.
If you do not wish to appear in published photographs, please inform us in advance.
Note 5 – Cancellation Policy
In the event of cancellation less than 48 hours before the excursion or failure to attend, participants will be required to cover the full participation fee.
This policy helps cover operational expenses and reservations that have already been made.
Note 6 – Programme Adjustments
The group escorts reserve the right to adjust the stops and schedule according to the available time, without omitting important points of interest.
