Salonica View Travel Agency invites you to a beautiful autumn hiking adventure along the linear Kannoures – Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis Nature Trail, finishing near Kakopetria, followed by an optional meal at Chrysanthis Tavern.
A Few Words About Our Trip
We will depart in the morning from Nicosia (Agios Stylianos Church / Strovolos), with additional pick-up stops in Kofinou and Limassol.
Our hike begins on the Karvounas – Troodos Square main road and continues through a beautiful natural landscape.
Along the way, we will pass near the source of the Karkotis River and then by the abandoned chromium mine.
Our hike ends at Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, a 12th-century church near Kakopetria.
After completing the hike, we will continue to Chrysanthis Tavern for lunch and a relaxing end to our day!
Difficulty Level: 3 – Difficult
The trail includes challenging sections with significant elevation changes, uphill and downhill sections and is suitable for participants who are in good physical condition.
Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis Church
Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis is a 12th-century church located near Kakopetria. It is the only surviving Middle Byzantine monastery church of its kind in Cyprus.
The church flourished during the Middle Byzantine period and the early years of Frankish rule and later continued to function as a parish or pilgrimage church.
Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis is one of the painted churches of the Troodos region included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Its architecture is a cross-in-square structure with a dome. The church takes its name, meaning “Saint Nicholas of the Roof,” from the second wooden roof that covers the original structure. Its interior walls are decorated with an impressive collection of frescoes.

Important Notes
Note 1: When making your reservation, please indicate where you would like to board the bus.
Note 2: For the smooth running of the event and for safety reasons, all participants must follow the instructions given by the group leaders.
Note 3: In case the event is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, the trip will be rescheduled. Participants who are unable to attend on the new date will receive a refund. If weather conditions once again prevent the event from taking place, the event will be permanently cancelled and all participants will receive a refund.
Note 4: Photos from our activities may be shared on our website and social media after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you agree to the publication of photographs in which you may appear. If you do not wish to appear in published photographs, please inform us.
Note 5 – Cancellation Policy: In case of cancellation less than 72 hours before the event, or in case of a no-show, participants will be required to cover the full participation fee. This policy applies in order to cover operating expenses and reservations that have already been made.
Note 6: The group leaders reserve the right to adjust the stops and programme of the excursion according to the available time, without omitting important points of interest.

Important Information About Our Events
Four days before the trip, usually on Wednesday, an official update will be sent to all participants confirming whether the excursion will take place.
