The Salonica View alternative tourism office organizes a wonderful one-day hike to one of Greece's internationally flagged wetlands, Lake Kerkini.
A few words about our excursion:
We will start early in the morning from Thessaloniki and after about 2 hours we will reach the village of Chrysochorafa. There we will be informed by the hiking leader about the 6km long route where we will follow the lakes on the eastern embankment. The duration of the hike will be approximately 2 hours!
The route is beautiful, flat, and passable by everyone. We will have the opportunity to visit a buffalo farm where there will be information and a guided tour of the site. Then we will visit Galini confectionery where we will taste unique ice creams or sweets made from buffalo milk.

Lake Kerkini
In the northwestern part of the prefecture of Serres, just 40 km from the capital of the same name and about 100 km from Thessaloniki, we find one of the most beautiful parts of our country. Lake Kerkini is one of the 10 wetlands of international importance in Greece.
The experience of the unique spectacle offered by water buffaloes, 3,500 in number, a unique species in Europe, which you will meet in the area of Chrysochorafon, Byronia, Kerkini, Mandraki, and Livadia.

Note 1. When you click to book, state in the message where you will take the bus from. The options are Voulgari (Everest), Aristotelous (Statue of Venizelos) or One Salonica. E.g. Statue of Venizelos
Note 2. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.
Note 3. Photographic material is shared on our page and social media after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you also accept the sharing of photos. Otherwise, please let us know.
