Hiking and swimming at the waterfall of Saint Kori, Vrontou Olympos

The Salonica View team organizes a one-day excursion with hiking and swimming at the Saint Kori waterfall, Vrountou, Olympos.

A few words about our excursion:

From the village of Vrontou, we will start our hike making a beautiful circular route of about 5 km through the forest and we will end up in St.Kori with the stunning waterfalls, where we will dive into the crystal clear waters that create small and large pedestals. Most of our route is shaded by lush vegetation and beautiful scenery. In the parking lot of St. Kori, our bus will be waiting for us, and we will have time for food and coffee in the village of Vrontou.

The Saint Kori

The pilgrimage of Saint Kori is located at the foot of Mount Olympus, 4 km from the village of Vrountou at the bottom of a dense gorge with rich vegetation that we reach by descending 180 steps. According to local tradition, Saint Kori was a beautiful girl from the region of Ioannina whom Ali Pasha wanted to take into his harem. She, holding the icon of the Virgin Mary to save herself, fled to Olympus in the area of Old Vrountou. There at the bottom of the ravine, she died of cold and hunger. Next to the lifeless body, holy water was gushing out and the residents built a small church around the tree in her memory. Because no one knew her name, they called her Saint Kori (Holy Daughter). Her memory is celebrated on the day of the Holy Trinity.

Note 1. When you click to make a reservation, state in the message where you will take the bus from. The options are Voulgari (Everest), Aristotelous (Statue of Venizelos) or One Salonica. E.g. Statue of Venizelos

Note 2. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants who are unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.

Note 3. Photographic material is shared on our page and social media after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you also accept the sharing of photos. Otherwise, please let us know.
