The alternative tourism agency Salonica View is organizing a special one-day excursion to the blooming Peonies of Krasta.
A few words about our excursion:
Our trip will have as its destination the village of Giannakochori in Imathia, approximately one hour and forty minutes from Thessaloniki. Our excursion will be special as it will include an 8km hike (round-trip) to admire the beautiful flowering of the Peonies and the wonderful panoramic view of Vermio. The Peonies are a particularly beautiful wildflower found in the Greek countryside and in the Mediterranean in general. Known since antiquity, thanks to its beauty and medicinal properties, with its godfather the doctor of the gods Paeon, who according to mythology, used it to cure Pluto and when the doctor died, it was transformed into a plant, the Paeonia, out of his admiration and worship for it. The Paeonias have impressively large flowers with a diameter exceeding 10 centimeters, usually red, white or pink. They reach a height of 70-80 centimeters and large palmate leaves. They grow at intermediate or high altitudes and their flowering period lasts all spring.
Then we will visit a tavern in Rodochori for dinner with amazing flavors and a wonderful view of the mountain.
The hike is unique and suitable for everyone, even for our little hikers (accompanied by a guardian).
*** The excursion will take place either on 27/4 or 4/5 depending on the flowering of the peonies so that we can reach them in bloom!

Note 1. When you click to book, state in the message where you will take the bus from. The options are Voulgari (Everest), Aristotelous (Venizelos Statue) or One Salonica. E.g. Venizelos Statue
Note 2. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is transferred to another date. Participants who cannot participate on the specific date will be refunded. However, if the weather conditions still do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone will be refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the event date, the money will not be refunded.
Note 3. Photographic material is shared on our page and on social media after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you agree to the sharing of photos. Otherwise, please let us know.
