Bathing in the cool waters of the emerald lake Skra

The Salonica View team organizes a one-day excursion to swim in the cool waters of the emerald Skra Lake

A few words about our trip:

We will start from Thessaloniki with a destination for the blue lake Skra which is located on the N.E. slopes of Mount Paiko, at an altitude of about 500 meters and a distance of only 4 kilometers from the historical village of Skra, in the Municipality of Paionia. The lake has a depth of up to four meters and the waterfalls that form there are fed by a network of streams that "gives birth" to Mount Paiko. It is named after the fossilized organisms found at its bottom.

We will reach the beginning of the path and start our short hike in a green environment with running water and images taken from a fairy tale. There is hidden the blue lake, where we will swim in its cold emerald waters enjoying the nature and coolness in the heart of August. Then we will drive a little further and admire the nearby waterfalls and their small caves.

The setting only awes the visitor, who stands wondering if it is a magical image or not, while the more romantic and those who like fairy tales, look for the fairies that might be hidden there.

We will then have free time for coffee and food in the historic Goumenissa Square before our departure for Thessaloniki. The excursion is aimed at all nature lovers, young and old.

Note 1. When you click to book, state in the message where you will take the bus from. The options are Voulgari (Everest), Aristotelous (Statue of Venizelos) or One Salonica. E.g. Statue of Venizelos

Note 2. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants who are unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.

Note 3. Photographic material is shared on our page and social media after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you also accept the sharing of photos. Otherwise, please let us know.
