A few words about our trip:

we will start from Nicosia in the direction to visit the Lambouri Winery where we will have the possibility a tasting of the wines of the winery. Afterward, we will depart to go hiking on the Venetian bridge of Tzelefos. From there we will start our hike, our route will last about 2 hours. Then we will board our bus and stop for food and visit to Omodos. Finally, we will return to our bus to take the way back.

A few words about Omodos:

Omodos is a village in the district of Limassol. It is located at an altitude of 575 meters above sea level. Omodos was probably created at the end of the Byzantine period. The foundation of the settlement was the dissolution of the Upper and Lower Koupetra settlements. The inhabitants created a new settlement around the original Holy Cross monastery, which was called Omodos.

Hiking Features:

Starting point: Jelefou Bridge

Length: 4 kilometers

Time: 2 hours

Degree of difficulty: 1

Tzelefos Bridge:

it is located at an altitude of 440 meters in the forest of Paphos, 6 kilometers from the Turkish Cypriot village of Saint Nikolaos, and is the largest medieval stone bridge on the island. It is also built on the Diarrizos River which feeds the Arminos fence. It was built during the Venetian rule in Cyprus and belongs together with two other bridges (that of Elia and that of Routhkia) to a complex of Venetian bridges that were built to serve the access of the then residents of the area. Various interpretations have been given for the origin of the bridge's name, but none has been confirmed. Perhaps it comes from the ancient Greek word "Kelephos" which means weak, or sick and is associated with some incident or person during its construction.
