Salonica View is organizing a 6-day Easter excursion from Cyprus to Pelion, from 9 to 15 April 2026 (Maundy Thursday to Easter Tuesday). An organized getaway that combines tradition, beautiful villages and an authentic Easter atmosphere, with accommodation in Chania Pelion and a program adapted to the days of Easter.
Excursion's Schedule
Day 1 – Holy Thursday 09/04
We depart from Larnaca by flight to Athens. Upon arrival in Athens we board the bus to Pelion. On the way there is a coffee stop and then we pass through Volos for a short tour. In the afternoon we will arrive at the Hotel Pelion Tasia*** in Chania Pelion. After settling in the hotel and rooms we will have free time to rest without activities, so that the group can relax from the trip. In the evening dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Good Friday 10/04
After breakfast, we begin the 3–4 km hike to the historic Sanatorium of Chania. At the point, there is a presentation of the history of the area and the doctor Karamanis, as well as a brief reference to Chania & Drakeia. We return and rest, while in the evening we participate in the Epitaph Service.
Day 3 – Good Saturday 11/04
After breakfast, we depart for the village of Kissos with a walk in the stone square and a visit to the church of St. John the Baptist. We continue to the village of Tsagarada with a stop at the centuries-old plane tree, ideal for photos and coffee. At noon we will have lunch at a traditional tavern in the area (optional). In the evening we transfer to Portaria for the Easter Liturgy and the “Christ is Risen” in a beautiful mountain setting.
Day 4 – Easter Sunday 12/04
The day begins with breakfast. Then we continue with the traditional roasting of obelia and a festive Easter table.
This is followed by music, dancing and the possibility of participating in a traditional dance lesson of Pelion & Magnesia
A relaxed afternoon with a friendly atmosphere and a festive atmosphere.
Day 5 – Easter Monday 13/04
Departure for the historic train “Moutzouris”, only to Milies. Then we will have free time in Milies to walk along the cobblestone streets and the square. Then, transfer by coach to Kala Nera for lunch, a leisurely seaside walk and rest. Then late in the afternoon we will return to Chania.
Day 6 – Easter Tuesday 14/04
Breakfast at the hotel and room delivery. We will then make a morning visit to the famous Centaurs' Path with an easy and short route through green scenery. Then we move to Makrinitsa, the "balcony of Pelion", for coffee, photos and a leisurely tour.
Departure for Athens and return to Cyprus with the afternoon flight.

Chania of Pelion:
Chania of Pelion is a mountain settlement built at an altitude of ~1,190–1,200 meters on the slopes of Pelion, amidst dense beech, fir and chestnut forests.
Chania functions as a "passage" between eastern and western Pelion, offering easy access to other picturesque villages and trails, making it a suitable base for excursions.
Makrinitsa:
Makrinitsa is a traditional settlement of Pelion, just a few kilometers from Volos. It is considered the “balcony of Pelion” due to the stunning view it offers of the Pagasetic Gulf and the city of Volos.
Moutzouris — The Pelion Train:
“Moutzouris” is the historic Pelion train, the narrow-gauge (60 cm) that began construction in 1894 and was completed in 1903. It crosses a magical route through greenery, with dense forests, old stone bridges, tunnels and unique views of nature and the Aegean. The route that operates today is from Upper Lechonia to Milies — approximately 15 km, lasts 90 minutes and includes a 15-minute stop in Upper Gatzea. The experience is nostalgic and fairytale-like, wooden wagons, slow travel, images reminiscent of old times.
Kala Nera:
Kala Nera is a seaside village in Pelion, known for its beautiful sea and relaxed atmosphere. It is a frequent destination for swimming, eating and relaxing after a walk in the mountains, ideal for combining sea + mountain.
Church of Saint Ioannis Prodromos – Kissos:
A stone, historic church with impressive old frescoes and traditional Pelion architecture, built in a peaceful green landscape.
Tsagarada:
A picturesque village in Pelion, known for the centuries-old plane tree in the central square, paved paths and views of the Aegean.
Chania Sanatorium:
The Chania Sanatorium is located in Chania, Pelion and is a historic building, it was one of the first therapeutic institutions in Pelion, known for its thermal and climatic properties.
