The Salonica View team is organizing a two-day hiking and kayaking trip to the coastal village of Kato Pyrgos Tylleria on May 20-21. The combination of the verdant mountain with the beach, but also the sunset that has nothing to envy to that of Santorini, were some of the reasons why the Salonica View team chose Kato Pyrgos for this two-day getaway!
Day 1 - Saturday
Our route will start from Nicosia (Cypriot Handicrafts Center). We will head towards the Astromeritis roadblock. Our first visit will be to the ancient theater of Solon in Solos. We will then board the bus to continue our journey until we reach Kato Pyrgos. We will make a stop at the ''Drys'' cafe in the lower Pyrgos. We will have time to rest and see up close the legendary oak tree that has been there for 125 years. Then we will go to our hotel E.J hotel to settle in our rooms. There will be free time until the afternoon. In the afternoon we will prepare for our hike, which will start from the village of Pigaina. The hike will take about 3 hours. Then we will return back to Kato Pyrgos. Free time and rest in the evening. Anyone who wants can visit the beach bar of the Grape by the sea area.
Day 2 - Sunday
After we wake up and enjoy our breakfast next to the sea we will get ready for our water adventure. It's time to go sea kayaking on the beaches of Kato Pyrgos. We will get ready for the kayak and board the bus to go to the port. Our activity will last approximately 1 hour. Then we will return to the hotel to take a shower and prepare our things for checking out of the rooms. We will then have lunch at the hotel before departing for Nicosia.
Excursion highlight:
Theater of Solon: The theater of Solon was built on the northern slope of the hill very close to the sea. The archaeological site of the city of Solos is located on the top and on the outskirts of a large and imposing hill in the location of Palia Chora, overlooking one of the most picturesque and fertile valleys of northwestern Cyprus, between the communities of Potamos of Kampos and Karavostasi and very close to the famous ancient mines of copper in Fukasa — the Homeric Vukasa — and in Montenegro. The Theater of Solos was excavated in 1929 by the Swedish Archaeological Expedition. It is dated to the end of the 2nd century. or at the beginning of the 3rd c. AD
Legendary oak: It is located in the Lower Tower of Tilleria and was planted in 1898. It is 20 meters high and is located outside a village restaurant that was to become a cinema but the Turkish invasion of 1974 changed the plans of the then-owner forever.
Hiking A few words: Our hiking will start in the village of Pigaenia. The community of Pigainion is located in the region of Tulleria which is a mountainous peninsula of Cyprus in the northwestern part of the island between the Gulf of Chrysochous and the Gulf of Morphou. The community of Pigaenia is a combination of mountain and sea with a magnificent and panoramic view. The village got its name from the bush "peganon" or "peganon" (peganum harmala), which is a medicinal and dye plant that grows in the area. During our route through the village, we will have the opportunity to see the impressive stone fountains, from which all households were supplied with water. We will have the opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view from Morphou and our course will be circular.

Note 1. For the best functioning of the event and for safety reasons, participants must comply with the instructions of the attendants.
Note 2. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.
