Salonica View organizes a special day trip-pilgrimage, to the Holy Monastery of Saint Irakleios and the Holy Monastery of Virgin Mary of Machairas, with a visit to the beautiful, picturesque Lefkara for a walk as well as food and relaxed free time in Zygi, by the sea.
A few words about our trip:
We start from Nicosia and the Center for Cypriot Handicrafts in the morning. Our first stop will be the Holy Monastery of Saint Irakleios in Politiko, where we will have the opportunity to worship, talk to the nuns, be guided through the monastery grounds and enjoy the traditional treat they will offer us. Then we will visit the Holy Monastery of Virgin Mary of Machairas, one of the most important monasteries in Cyprus, built on the verdant slopes of Machairas at an altitude of approximately 900 meters. There will be time for pilgrimage. Our excursion continues with a visit to the picturesque Lefkara, where we will have free time for coffee and a stroll through the narrow alleys and local produce markets. Our last stop will be Zygi, for food and free time by the sea before our return to Nicosia.

Holy Monastery of Saint Irakleidios – Politiko
The Monastery is dedicated to Saint Irakleidios, the first Bishop of Tamassos, who was ordained by the Apostles Paul and Barnabas and martyred at the age of 60. The first church was built around 400 AD on the site of his tomb, while the monastery was renovated many times, with its current form dating from 1773. Today it operates as a women's monastery and houses the holy relics of the Saint.
Holy Monastery of Virgin Mary of Machaira
The Monastery of Virgin Mary of Machaira is one of the most important and historic monasteries in Cyprus, built in the lush green landscape of Mount Machaira. It houses the miraculous icon of Virgin Mary “Machairiotissa”, which according to tradition is attributed to the Evangelist Luke.
Lefkara:
A picturesque village known worldwide for its famous “Lefkara” embroideries and silversmithing.
Zygi – Seaside area:
A beautiful coastal destination, ideal for relaxation and good food by the sea. Known for its taverns with fresh fish and the peaceful view, it is the ideal end to the excursion before returning.

Note 1. For the best operation of the event and for safety reasons, participants must comply with the instructions of the escorts.
Note 2. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion will be transferred to another date. Participants who cannot participate on the specific date will receive a refund. However, if the weather conditions still do not allow the event to take place, the event will be permanently canceled and everyone will receive a refund.
Note 3. Photographic material is shared on our page and on social media after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you agree to the sharing of photos. Otherwise, please inform us.
Note 4. Cancellation policy: in case of cancellation less than 72 hours before the event or your failure to show up for the activity/excursion, you will be required to cover the full cost of your participation. This policy applies to cover operating expenses and reservations that have already been made.
Note 5. The guides have the right to adjust the stops of the excursion and the program depending on the time available, without omitting important points of interest.
