Ascent to Stavrovouni

The Salonica View team organizes climbing and hiking on the Stavrovouni - Anglisides trail.

A few words about our hike:

Our route will start from the Cypriot Handicrafts Center in Nicosia and head towards Stavrovouni. Our ascent will start from the square of the Holy Monastery of Agia Varvara and we will end up 2km outside the village of Anglisides. The path is uphill (in the beginning) and good physical condition is required. But the view from above is excellent and worth it since it offers a panoramic view of the Larnaca bay. At the end of the route, we will go to Kofinou for rest and food.

Points of interest: Excellent view of the areas of Larnaca. They stand out among others: the airport, the salt flats, and the city of Larnaca. It passes through reforested areas.

A few words about Stavrovouni:

The Holy Monastery of Stavrovouni or simply Stavrovouni, is an Orthodox male Monastery and one of the places where there is a piece of the Holy Cross. It is located on top of a rocky hill, Mount Stavrovouni, at an altitude of 750 meters near the villages of Kornos, Pyrga, and Klaudia in the province of Larnaca.

Cost of participation (per person):

20 euros (hiking, organization & transportation by bus)

The price includes:

1. Escort and organization
2. Trainers specializing in outdoor activities
3. Transfer by bus from Nicosia and return
4. First aid box

You must have with you:

1. Mountaineering shoes (Preferably because the ground is slippery in some places) or Good sports shoes
2. Hiking pants or leggings
3. Fleece or jacket
4. Second shirt, socks, one small towel (change)
5. Snack and Water
6. Backpack
7. Raincoat (required)
8. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
9. Tissues
10. Trekking Pole (optional, but we recommend that you bring it with you on this particular hike)
11. Camera (optional)

Note 1. When you click to book, declare in the message where you will take the bus for your departure.

Note 2. For the best functioning of the event and for safety reasons, participants must comply with the instructions of the attendants.

Note 3. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.
