Overview

The Salonica View team organises a two-day excursion and visit to the community of Pedoulas, Skouriotissa village, cherry picking in Tsakistra village and hiking.

Day 1 - Saturday

Our route will start from Nicosia (Cypriot Handicrafts Center). We will head towards the village of Skouriotissa. There we will make our first stop at the botanical garden of the Atsas Educational Center. Then, not far from the garden, we will visit the Monastery of Seraphim of Sarov. Our next stop will be at the donkeys of Pangratiou in the area. Afterwards we will head to ''Panorama'', Kalopanagiotis for food and rest. Then we will board our bus to our final destination, the community of Pedoulas. We will go to our hotel ''Elyssia Hotel'' to settle in our rooms. There will be time to rest. In the afternoon we will walk in the village and visit the Center for Environmental Education and the Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael. In the evening we will have dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 - Sunday

After we wake up and enjoy our breakfast we will get ready for our hike and then we will leave the hotel. We will leave our luggage inside the bus. The bus will drop us off at the beginning of our hike and pick us up at the end. The route we will follow is 7km and it is towards the road of Tsakistra. After we finish our hike and reach the village of Tsakistra, we will go to a pervoli to pick cherries. Then we will go to a local tavern for food and rest. Finally, full of experiences and new memories, we will leave for our return to Nicosia.

Excursion highlight:

Agios Seraphim Monastery

The Hermitage was renovated and remodelled in 2001, so that the Russian hieromonk Father Ambrosios Gorelov could live there. Inside the Holy Hermitage, in the temple dedicated to Saint Seraphim, a small piece of his relic is treasured.

Holy Monastery of Archangel Michael (Pedoulas):

The church belongs to the type of wooden-roofed single-chambered churches that are very common in the Troodos mountain range and since 1985 a World Heritage Site. In 1474, the iconography of the church began. In addition to the frescoes, the wooden, written iconostasis of the church, contemporary with the frescoes, is also noteworthy. It is one of the best examples of the species preserved in Cyprus. The shield of the Lusignan kings of Cyprus and the double-headed eagle of the Byzantine emperors are depicted on the portico of this icon.

Cherry picking:

You will have the opportunity to live a unique experience picking cherries. We will visit orchards in Kampos of Tsakistras and we will have the opportunity to taste and cut cherries.
