The Salonica View team organizes a unique two-day excursion with hikes and excursions in the heart of Pitsilia, based in the village of Agros Limassol.
A few words about our trip:
Day 1
Our adventure begins at the Cyprus Handicrafts Center in Nicosia. After departure, we will head to the village of Saint Theodoros Limassol, at the foot of the Paputsa mountains, at an altitude of 1023 meters. This village, built on seven hills, is the third highest in the region and offers stunning views and natural beauty. We will visit the Agricultural Museum and the church of Holy Mary of Kivotos before continuing for lunch at a traditional tavern in the area of Pitsilia. Afterwards, we will head to Agro Limassol, where we will check in at the Rodon Hotel. There, there will be time for rest and a free afternoon to relax and enjoy the hotel amenities or explore the village.
A few words about Saint Theodoros: The village of Saint Theodoros is full of almond, peach, cherry and pine trees, which decorate the traditional houses of the village, especially in spring. Vines dominate the vegetation, creating a little paradise. The village is known for its rich history, dating back to the 4th century BC, with finds from the time of the Roman Empire. A famous resident of the village was the painter Adamantios Diamantis, who was inspired by its beauty for his works.
Sights of the village include the Museum of Rural Life, the Historical and Folklore Museum, as well as the church of Holy Mary of Kivotos, a 16th century building. The village also maintains the Old Olive Mill, while on the outskirts of the village there are centuries-old trees protected by the Forestry Department.
Day 2
After enjoying our breakfast at the Rodon hotel, we will start our hike to the picturesque village of Lower Mylos, which is about an hour's walk from Agro (3-4 kilometers). Our hike will take about an hour. As we reach the village, we will admire the stone bridge that connects to the plane trees and offers a unique picturesque image. In the center of the village dominates the church of Metamorphosis of Sotira, while the traditional houses preserve their folk architecture. On our tour we will also come across stone fountains that are scattered around the village, giving a sense of an earlier era. Our hike will continue on the Agros - Lower Mylos nature trail, where we will enjoy centuries-old oak trees and discover the natural splendor of the area. Also, the path of Alonartzia will lead us to the chapels of Saint Paraskevi and Archangel Michael. At the end of the hike, we will relax at the picnic area near the church, enjoying the green surroundings and the peaceful atmosphere of the village. After the visit, we will return to Agros. We will check out from our hotel and go for lunch before our departure to Nicosia.
A few words about Lower Mylos: Perched at an altitude of 750 meters on the slopes of Mount Troodos, the small village of Lower Mylos is full of natural beauty and traditional architecture. The village was founded in 1692, during a plague that forced the inhabitants of the surrounding villages to move to this area. According to tradition, there were two water mills, Upper Mylos and Lower Mylos, on the banks of the Kouris river, from which the village took its name.
