The accommodation area has been determined in consultation and with absolute respect for the community of trapped Greek Cypriots, who continue to keep our presence alive in this place.

Day 1 - Saturday

Our route will start from Nicosia (Cyprus Handicraft Center), we will stop for boarding at Pascal in Larnaca, and then we will head towards the Pergamon checkpoint via Pyla. Our day will start with a stop at the cave of Saint Therissos, near the village of Gialousa in Karpasia by the sea. We will then visit the church dedicated to Saint Philonas, near the ancient port of Karpasia, about 5 kilometers north of Rizokarpaso. There we will have time to swim at the beach, in a wonderful location. Then we will board our bus again and go to the area where we will set up our tents. Upon our arrival, we will arrange our tents and put our personal belongings in the area. Then there will be an afternoon hike and dinner at the Greek Cypriot tavern in Rizokarpaso 'Nikos', before returning to our tents for sleep.

Day 2 - Sunday

The next day, we will get up early in the morning and board the bus heading to the Cape of Apostle Andreas, to experience the first sunrise at the easternmost tip of Cyprus, a moment full of symbolism, emotion, and peace. Then we will have time for a pilgrimage to the church and time for a morning snack in the area. Then we will go to Pachyammos beach near the monastery of Apostle Andreas, and we will have time to swim. Finally, at noon we will go to the Greek Cypriot tavern in Rizokarpaso ''Nikos'' for dinner. After lunch, we will go back to our place, pack our tents and personal belongings, transfer them to our bus, and depart for the return to Nicosia.

A few words about Rizokarpaso:
Rizokarpaso is the easternmost village of Cyprus and is located in the Karpasia region. It is one of the most historic villages, and this is due to the fact that its inhabitants, despite the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the barbarity of Attila, most of them endured and stayed in their homes. This has resulted in the preservation of the Greek element in the occupied areas to this day, always under the watchful eye of the conqueror.

A few words about the church of Saint Philonas:
Near the ancient port of Karpasia, approximately 5 kilometers north of Rizokarpaso, in a wonderful location, is the church dedicated to Saint Philonas. The church, which dates back to the 11th-12th centuries, was built on the ruins of an early Christian basilica of the 4th-5th centuries AD, which was probably destroyed by Arab raids. Elements survive from both churches. The original church was a three-aisled basilica of small dimensions, while the incorporated new church is of the type of inscribed cruciform with a dome and covered the middle and southern aisle of the basilica, but not its entire length. The walls of the church are built with roughly squared limestone. In the northern aisle, remains of a clay sarcophagus are preserved, which is likely to be the tomb of Saint Philon.

About the Monastery of Saint Andrew:

The Monastery of Saint Andrew is a monastery located just south of Cape Saint Andrew. It is dedicated to the Apostle Andrew and is one of the most important religious sites in Cyprus. The traditional story of the founding of the monastery says that, during a journey to the Holy Land, the ship carrying Saint Andrew went off course and hit the rocks at the cape. When he reached land, the Apostle struck the rocks with his staff, causing a spring to spring up. The waters proved to have healing powers and restored the sight of the ship's captain, who had been blinded in one eye. The site subsequently became a place of pilgrimage. The church of the main monastery dates back to the 18th century, while the main buildings were built 100 years later. The monastery of Apostle Andrew celebrates on November 30th, but because on this date the weather is already winter, and because in ancient times pilgrims traveled by animals for many days to visit the monastery, it was also celebrated on August 15th, when one of the largest festivals in Cyprus was held.
