Overview

The Salonica View team is organizing a unique trekking tour that includes a visit to the "Sykias" Cave in Platani, Akanthou, Davlos and Mount Yuti.

A few words about our route:
Our group will start from Nicosia and the Cyprus Handicraft Center, and will head towards the Saint Dometios checkpoint. Our first stop will be the impressive "Sykias" Cave in Platani, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Afterwards, we will visit the historic Akanthou, known for its cultural heritage, and then Davlos, where we will make a stop for rest. Our journey will conclude with our visit to the imposing Mount of Yuti, located in the currently occupied village of Eptakomi, offering us a magnificent view that combines sky, sea and rich shrub vegetation, creating a breathtaking landscape. From Eptakomi, we will take the main highway that leads to Nicosia and the free areas.

Points of interest:

"Sykias" Cave in Platani: The cave is located southeast of the currently occupied village of Platani. It is perhaps the largest and most impressive cave formed from gypsum rocks. This particular cave was created through karstification, that is, the dissolution of rocks by water. The name of the cave came from the existence of a fig tree at its entrance. Its length is around 200 meters and its width is 5-10 meters, while there are small chambers scattered throughout. Inside the cave there are many traces of erosion and stalagmites and cauliflower-shaped structures can be observed. Access to it is easy, as steps have been created.

Akanthou: Village rich in cultural heritage.

Davlos: Picturesque village where there will be time for rest.

Mount Yuti: Stunning views, historical interest and natural beauty.
