Skiing in Troodos - 22 February

Our team organizes a one-day excursion and skiing at the top of Cyprus in Troodos.

A few words about our excursion:

We will leave Nicosia in the early morning in the hope of not being confronted with the traffic chaos that usually prevails in Troodos on Sundays, but also to have the whole day ahead of us. After parking the bus in a safe place in Troodos Square, the whole group will head to the ski center to collect their equipment. After receiving the equipment we will meet with the certified ski instructors from the Cyprus Sports Organization, in small groups of 5-10 people. In a one-hour lesson, the instructors will teach us the basic techniques required by the sport, but also for the more advanced, how to improve these techniques. At the end of the course, we will have the whole day with the equipment to enjoy our skiing on the slopes of Troodos. Late in the afternoon, fed up with adventure, we will depart for Nicosia.

A few words about Troodos:

Troodos is the highest mountain in Cyprus. Its peak is called Chionistra or Olympus and is located at 1951 meters. In Troodos, there are currently the following state forests: Troodos Forest (110 sq km), Paphos Forest (600 sq km), Adelphoi Forest (118 sq km), Machira Forest (60.6 sq km), and Limassol Forest (69 sq.km.). State forests are under the jurisdiction of the Republic's Forestry Department. Within the boundaries of the state forest, residential or any other developments are prohibited by law, as this is intended solely for the fulfillment of forestry purposes. To further protect biodiversity, four Flora and Fauna Protection Areas have been designated: the top of Tripylos (823 hectares) to protect the stands of Cypriot cedar and agronomy, as well as Madari (1187.8 hectares), the Mavori Kremmi in Paphos Forest (2557.6 hectares) and an area of 220 hectares of the Troodos Forest for the protection of rare or endangered plants and their habitats. A few words about skiing:

It comes from Scandinavia and originally covered the need to move people on snow. This was accomplished with a pair of long, narrow wooden boards, which were strapped to shoes or boots, known as skis, from which the sport takes its name. The oldest examples of skis were found in Sweden and Finland and are 4,000 to 5,000 years old. They were shorter and wider than today's sandals. Until the middle of the 19th century, there was no satisfactory way of securely tying skis to boots. This changed in 1860 when the Norwegian Sondre Nordheim was the first to use bindings that fixed the boots to the skis, not only at the front but also at the heel. This improvement made it a means of both recreation and sport. In 1924, the International Ski Federation was founded. (source: Wikipedia).

Participation fee (per person):

Package 1: 60 euros (bus transportation, ski equipment, one-hour ski lesson from certified instructors, full-day use of equipment, escort, and organization by Salonica View)

Package 2: 50 euros (price for children up to 12 years - bus transportation, ski equipment, one-hour ski lesson from certified instructors, full-day use of equipment, escort, and organization by Salonica View)

Package 3: 50 euros (transportation by my own car, ski equipment, one-hour ski lesson from certified instructors, full-day use of equipment, escort and organization by Salonica View)

Package 4: 40 euros (price for children up to 12 years - transportation by my own car, ski equipment, one-hour ski lesson from certified instructors time, full-day use of the equipment, escort, and organization by Salonica View).

*** Ski equipment includes shoes, skis, and sticks. Please bring warm and waterproof clothing.

*** The price does not include the use of lifts and cable cars.

ATTENTION!!! The event will take place depending on the snow availability at that time.

Please do not deposit money before receiving confirmation from our team's reservations department.

You will be informed in good time about the availability of the excursion, as well as the available payment options.

You must have with you:

1. Warm and comfortable clothes (not cotton, if not waterproof to dry easily)
2. Gloves
3. Scarf
4. Thick socks, preferably woolen
5. Second shirt, socks, one small towel (change)
6. Enough snacks
7. Backpack
8. Raincoat
9. Water
10. Tissues
11. Boots that keep feet warm
12. Camera (optional)
13. Snow goggles (optional)
14. Helmet (for a bike if you have one - recommended)

Note 1. When you click to book, declare in the message the package you choose.

Note 2. For the best functioning of the event and for safety reasons, participants must comply with the instructions of the attendants.

Note 3. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the event date, the money is not returned.

Note 4. Photographic material is shared on our page and social media after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you also accept the sharing of photos. Otherwise, please let us know.

Note 5. Cancellation Policy: in case of cancellation less than 48 hours before the event or no-show for the activity/excursion, you will have to cover the full cost of your participation. This policy applies to cover operational costs and bookings already made.
