One-day Hike to Kolymbos of Filani

The Salonica View group organizes a one-day hike in the beautiful landscape of Machairas, Kolymbos of Filani.

A few words about our trip:

Our team will start from Nicosia and the Cyprus Handicrafts Center. We will start our excursion with a pilgrimage to the Mahaira Monastery and a short rest. The hike will start from the crypt of Grigoris Auxentiou and we will follow a 3km route along the Pediaos river. On our route we will pass the large wooden bridge built by the Forestry Department. Then we will reach Kolymbos of Filani, a natural lake that was an old quarry, with crystal clear waters where sea bass live. The adventurous can enjoy a refreshing dip, weather permitting. As we proceed, we will reach the picturesque church of Saint Onofrios where we will make a short stop. After our hike, there will be lunch and rest before our return to Nicosia.

Machaira Monastery: Historic monastery and pilgrimage site, offering tranquility and a sense of total connection with nature.

Crypt of Grigoris Auxentiou: Historical site with strong patriotic symbolism, where the memory of the hero of Cypriot freedom is commemorated.

Wooden Bridge: A large bridge that connects the two banks of the Pediai river, giving the opportunity for unique photo shots in a green landscape.

Kolymbos of Filani: Natural lake created by an old quarry, known for its crystal clear waters and small fish populations. Ideal spot for the adventurous who want to dive.

Saint Onofrios: A picturesque chapel open to the public, in a green landscape, ideal for tranquility and contemplation.

Note 2. For the best functioning of the event and for safety reasons, participants must comply with the instructions of the attendants.

Note 3. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.
