Hike on the path Kykkou - Panagias 23km

The Salonica View team organizes a one-day hike on the Kykkos - Panagias trail in the Roudia Valley of the Paphos Forest.

A few words about our route:
Our group organizes a walking tour, which will start from the Handicrafts Center in Nicosia with the destination of the monastery of Panagia Kykkos, which is the starting point of our walking tour. The bus will drop us off at the beginning of the route and pick us up at the end. At the end of our hike, we will have free time to rest and eat in the village of Panagia in Paphos. The return to Nicosia will be via the highway (Paphos - Limassol - Nicosia)

A few words about the path and what we will see on our hike:
➡️ The trail is 23km and is located in the Roudia Valley of the Paphos Forest. The path follows the course of an ancient path that was mapped for the first time in 1882 and that was abandoned about 70 years ago. It is within the Natura 2000 Network in an area of great environmental and ecological value and carries a valuable cultural heritage linked to the life and experiences of the area's inhabitants. The path was part of a wider network of paths that connected the villages around the forest of Paphos. This particular route connects the mountain villages and monasteries around the village of Panagia (Pafos) with the Kykkou Monastery as well as the provinces of Paphos and Nicosia. The path was used by monks, pilgrims, shepherds, traders, and workers.
➡️ On our route we will come across clumps of centuries-old olive trees found in the area over 400 years old, the historic Monastery of Panagia Kykkos, Venetian bridges, hideouts used by EOKA fighters during the Cyprus Liberation War against the British colonialists, but also other anthropogenic elements linked to historical activities of the inhabitants, such as old mines, furnaces, watermills, sawmills, and abandoned settlements.

Note 1. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the advance money is not returned.
