The outdoor activities and sports tourism office, Salonica View, organizes a one-day excursion and hiking in the Avakas Gorge.
A few words about the Abaka Gorge:
The Abaka Gorge is considered the most beautiful destination for hikers and nature lovers. For many, it is the diamond of the Akamas Peninsula. The carved limestone rocks that rise up to 30 meters, the wildlife of the path, and the river "Avgas" that crosses, give you the impression of an earthly paradise.
Points of interest:
The path of Avakas Gorge is located in the homonymous gorge, in the forest of Pegeia, while the end of the route is in the gorge. It follows the course of the river Avgas, from where the gorge got its name. The gorge was created by continuous erosive activity on the eroding, sloping limestone rocks consisting of fertile, floury soil, coral and granular limestone, and bentonite mud. The gorge is also an area within the NATURA 2000 network. At first, the path follows a dirt road (closed to private vehicles) through an open valley and then leads you to the gorge. The last part of the path is in the stream, where water usually flows all year round. The route through the gorge is characterized by dense vegetation and a very attractive, shady, and humid environment.

08:00 - Departure from Nicosia (south stand GSP)
08:30 - Departure of Kofinou (village square - church of Agios Modestos)
09:00 - Departure from Limassol (JUMBO LINOPETRAS)
10:00 - Stop at the Paphos Mall for coffee
11:00 - Start hiking in the gorge
13:20 - End of hiking
14:00 - Walk in the port of Paphos (free time for food and coffee)
16:00 - Departure for return
18:30 - Return to Nicosia (there will be a stop for landing in Limassol and Kofinou)

Note 3. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the trip is postponed to another date. Participants who are unable to attend on this date will receive a refund. However, if the weather conditions still do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and a refund is given to everyone. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is non-refundable.
