Salonica View is organising a special excursion on 20 September to Arsos – Tzelefos Bridge – Omodos, where we will discover the traditions of palouzes and soutzoukos, enjoy beautiful landscapes and have plenty of time to explore each destination.
About Our Excursion
We depart from Nicosia, with additional pick-up stops in Kofinou and Limassol.
Our first stop is Arsos, one of Cyprus’ most traditional wine villages. Here, we will have the opportunity to discover how traditional palouzes is made and learn more about this important part of Cyprus’ grape-growing tradition. There will also be free time for coffee and relaxation.
We will then make a short stop at Tzelefos Bridge, one of the best-known Venetian bridges in Cyprus, where we will have time to take photographs and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.
Our next destination is the picturesque village of Omodos, where we will visit the Monastery of the Holy Cross, just a few days after the important religious celebration of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
Afterwards, there will be free time to explore the village, walk through its charming cobbled streets, enjoy lunch or coffee, go shopping or discover its traditional local shops.

Arsos Village
Arsos is a traditional wine-producing village in the Limassol district, built on the slopes of Laona mountain at an altitude of approximately 790–1,000 metres.
Thanks to its geographical location and its position overlooking the valley, Arsos offers beautiful views towards the Diarizos Valley and the coast of Paphos.
The Tradition of Palouzes
In the picturesque village of Arsos, one of Cyprus’ best-known wine villages, we will discover the island’s traditional grape culture.
We will see how palouzes, a traditional grape-must pudding, and soutzoukos, a traditional grape-based sweet, are made and learn about the secrets and techniques behind their preparation.
Omodos
Omodos is a village in the Limassol district, situated at an altitude of approximately 575 metres above sea level.
The village was most likely established towards the end of the Byzantine period, following the abandonment of the settlements of Pano and Kato Koupetra. Their inhabitants established a new settlement around the original Monastery of the Holy Cross, which later became known as Omodos.
Tzelefos Bridge
Tzelefos Bridge is located at an altitude of approximately 440 metres in the Paphos Forest, about 6 kilometres from the village of Agios Nikolaos. It is the largest medieval stone bridge in Cyprus.
The bridge was built over the Diarizos River, which flows towards the Arminou Reservoir. It was constructed during the period of Venetian rule in Cyprus and, together with the Elia and Roudias bridges, forms part of a network of Venetian bridges that once provided important routes through the area.
Several explanations have been suggested regarding the origin of the bridge’s name, although none has been definitively established. One theory suggests that it may originate from the ancient Greek word “kelephos”, meaning weak or ill, possibly referring to a person or an incident associated with its construction.

Important Notes
Note 1: When making your reservation, please indicate where you would like to board the bus.
Note 2: For the smooth operation of the event and for safety reasons, all participants must follow the instructions given by the tour coordinators.
Note 3: In the event that the excursion is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for another date. Participants who are unable to attend on the new date will receive a refund. If weather conditions once again prevent the excursion from taking place, the event will be permanently cancelled and all participants will receive a full refund.
Note 4: Photographs from our events are shared on our website and social media platforms after each event. By participating in a Salonica View event, you agree to the publication of photographs in which you may appear. If you do not wish to be photographed or have your photograph published, please inform us.
Note 5 – Cancellation Policy: In the event of a cancellation less than 48 hours before the event, or in the case of a no-show, participants will be required to pay the full participation fee. This policy is in place to cover operational costs and reservations that have already been made.
Note 6: The tour coordinators reserve the right to adjust the stops and schedule of the excursion depending on the available time, without omitting any major points of interest.

INFORMATION REGARDING ALL OUR EXCURSIONS
Four days before the excursion, usually on Wednesday, all participants will receive an official update confirming whether the excursion will take place.
