Salonica View Travel Office is organizing a unique one-day excursion and hiking experience on the Moutiko Nature Trail in Kathikas.
About the hike:
Our journey will begin from the Cyprus Handicraft Centre in Nicosia, heading towards the village of Kathikas, with intermediate boarding stops in Kofinou and Limassol. Upon arrival, we will have time for rest and coffee before starting the hike. The trail begins approximately 1 km from the village centre and follows a route towards the plateau. From the very first steps, the path takes us through a unique mosaic of nature, geology and authentic Cypriot countryside.
As we continue, we will enjoy panoramic views of the gorges and plateaus of Kathikas, with constantly changing scenery: dirt paths, pine-covered hillsides and open landscapes with wild vegetation create a peaceful and visually rich experience. Along the way, we may encounter sheep and goats or observe birds of prey flying above the valley. The trail offers resting spots with benches, ideal for short breaks and photos. In several places the view opens towards the sea and the protected areas of Lara, combining mountain and coastline into a spectacular natural setting.
At the end of our hike, we will visit Agios Georgios in Peyia before returning to Nicosia.
POINTS OF INTEREST ALONG THE ROUTE
Farkonia Gorge
An impressive gorge named after the word “farkon” (falcon). The view over the valley is unique and visitors can often spot birds of prey flying high above.
Moutiko Plateau
The landmark that gives the trail its name.
Koufon & Eirini Gorges
Two gorges with distinctive local names. “Koufon” is associated with references to snakes, while “Eirini” is possibly linked to an old female name from the area.
Lipati Plateau & Dipotamou Gorge
Further east lies another remarkable natural landscape that completes the scenery of the route, offering different viewing angles and geological interest.
Geological Window & Fossils
Locations where older rock formations and marine fossils can be seen, revealing the region’s history millions of years ago.
Orchid Habitats
Areas where rare species of wild orchids bloom, especially from late winter to spring.
Traditional Rural Shelter
An old agricultural refuge reflecting the traditional rural lifestyle and dry-stone architecture of Cyprus.

For safety reasons and the smooth operation of the activity, participants must follow the instructions of the guides.

In case of cancellation due to bad weather, the trip will be rescheduled. Participants who cannot attend the new date will receive a refund. If weather conditions still do not allow the activity to take place, the event will be cancelled and full refunds will be provided.

Photos from the event may be shared on our website and social media. By participating, you agree to the publication of photos unless you inform us otherwise.
NOTE 4
Cancellation Policy – If you cancel less than 48 hours before the event or do not show up, you will be required to cover the full participation cost due to operational expenses and confirmed bookings.
