The Salonica View team is organizing a 5-day excursion to Tzoumerka, Ioannina. Live the ultimate experience by doing rafting, hiking and other beautiful activities in one of the most beautiful places in Greece.
Day 1, Larnaca – Thessaloniki – Metsovo -Tzoumerka
Departure from Larnaca by plane in the morning to Thessaloniki. From there we will board the bus and take the Egnatia Highway towards Ioannina. We will stop for traditional food at the Metsovo bus stop. Then, after boarding the bus again, we will depart for our final destination, the Etheres Hotel https://www.etherestzoumerkon.gr/ in the village of Katarraktis in Tzoumerka. After settling in at the hotel and resting, we will have free time.
Day 2, Rafting on the Arachthos River
After having breakfast at the hotel and filling up on energy, it's time for action! We will board minibusses that will take us to the Politsa Bridge. From there, after some short training, the adventure begins with Rafting in one of the most beautiful canyons in Greece. At the end of our activity, we will go to a local tavern for lunch. Late in the afternoon, we will return to the hotel.
Rafting on the Arachthos River
During the Rafting on the Arachthos River, we follow a relatively easy route of approximately 10 kilometers, which is suitable even for beginners. We encounter a flow with continuous waves, sharp bends, and 2nd – 3rd-degree passages. We cross the most beautiful part of the river that starts from the Politsa Bridge in Ampelohori and ends at the famous Plaka Bridge. About halfway through our route, we do not miss the opportunity to visit and take a dip in the natural lake formed by the twenty-meter Cliff Waterfall. The entrance to the narrow Arachthos Gorge is imposing with vertical slopes of 700 meters high. Along the way, we encounter dozens of springs gushing from the rocks with crystal clear and drinkable water. At the exit of the Gorge, at the end of the route we pass by the largest single-arch bridge in the Balkans, the Plaka Bridge. No previous experience is required.
Day 3, Hiking Melissourgon Refuge - Kefalovryso Waterfall, Tzoumerka
We will have breakfast at the hotel and start by bus to the Melissourgon mountain refuge. From there we will start our hike on a beautiful path through a fir forest and after 20 minutes we come out to an opening where we have a view of the waterfall called Kefalovryso and the surrounding area. The waterfall is 350 meters long. We begin to approach it, constantly having visual contact with it, and after half an hour we reach its base. The return is alternatively via another route through a fir forest on a very beautiful path. Bonus and the view of another waterfall south of the big one and soon we will reach the Melissourgo shelter from the other side. The route moves exclusively on a path with the exception of a small section of 300 meters where it moves on a dirt road. After the end of the hike, we will have time for lunch at the shelter. Late in the afternoon, we will return to our hotel.
Hiking characteristics:
• Circular route
• Total distance 4 km

• Total duration 3 and a half hours with stops
