Hiking on the nature trail Bishops' Monuments

The Salonica View team organizes a one-day hike on the nature trail, Bishops' Monuments.

A few words about our route:

Our route will start from the Nicosia Cypriot Handicraft Center and we will head towards the main Troodos - Karvouna road, 1.5 km before Troodos Square, 9 km from the Karvounas location, to the Kampos tou Livadiou excursion site. The starting point is about 300 m along the narrow asphalt road. We will follow 1 km on the path and come to a junction with the wooden sign "Monuments of Bishops" and we will follow it. The first kilometer of this route is part of the Kampos tou Livadi trail. The route ends at the dirt road that connects the site of Platania with the church of Saint Nikolaos of Stegi. We will also have time to visit the church. After our hike is completed we will go to Kakopetria for food and rest.

A few words about the path:

The path takes its name from the location "Memorials of the Bishops", a place where three Metropolitans of Cyprus were massacred by the Karamanos during the period of the Turkish occupation. The entire route is within the Troodos National Forest Park, which is a NATURA 2000 network area. It passes through thick stands of black pine but also along the cliff, offering delightful views of the Chrome River, the Soleas Valley, and the Gulf of Morphou. The lush vegetation at the beginning of the trail consists of black pine. Then at an altitude below 1,400 meters, the trachea pine is found. The path ends at the forest road Platania – Apotheri – Agios Nikolaos of Stegis, where there is a choice of three roads that end at the church of Agios Nikolaos of Stegis, in the village of Kakopetria and in the excursion area of Platanion, respectively.

Note 2. For the best functioning of the event and for safety reasons, participants must comply with the instructions of the attendants.

Note 3. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.
