The Salonica View alternative and sports tourism office organizes a one-way hiking trip in the mountainous area of Larnaca and Nicosia. The points that stand out in our excursion are the hike on a path that runs parallel to the Maroulena gorge, the visit to the village of Gourri and the Holy Monastery of Virgin Mary of Machairas, and finally the visit to the donkey farm in Skarinou, where apart from the rich Cypriot buffet which will be enjoyed by the participants, there will be a tour of the farm, tasting of chocolate and liqueur made from donkey milk.
A few words about our excursion:
Our excursion will start from Nicosia and specifically from the handicraft center. Together with the experienced leader-companion of our office, we will start our adventure inside the Gorge. At the end of our hike, we will return to the bus. Our next stop will be in the village of Gourri, where we will have time for rest and coffee. Then we will continue our route to reach the monastery of the Virgin Mary of Machaira for a pilgrimage. Via Vavatsinias Skarinou road we will end up at a cattle farm in Skarinos. There will be a tour of the farm and a tasting of chocolate and liqueur made from donkey milk. Before the tour, we will enjoy a rich Cypriot buffet. From Skarinou via the highway, we will return to Nicosia.
A few words about the Gorge:
The Maroulena Gorge is located very close to the village of Kalo Chorio of Orini. The creation of the gorge comes from the union of two rivers, Farmakas and Marunella. The geological importance of the Gorge is great since the visitor can see and admire huge boulders from the earth's crust.
A few words about the path:
The trail we will walk is about 6.5 kilometers round trip with hardly any uphill descents. In case some gets tired, we are given the opportunity to split into two groups since we will have several companions. Children over 10 years old are allowed if accompanied by their parents.

Note 1. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if again the weather conditions do not allow the event to take place, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the advance money is not returned.
