The Salonica View alternative tourism office organizes a four-day excursion from Cyprus to Zagorochoria and Veria.
A few words about our excursion:
Our excursion will start from Larnaca, from where we will take the morning flight to Macedonia Airport in Thessaloniki. From there via Egnatia street, with a stopover for coffee, we will head towards our destination, the picturesque Ioannina. During the days of our stay in the area, we will visit the islet of the lake of Ioannina, Monodendri, the Holy Monastery of Agia Paraskevi, Kokkori's Bridge, and Tsepelovo. On the third day after our breakfast, we will depart for the mountain settlement of Vitsa, which is located in the northern part of the prefecture, in Central Zagori, at the entrance of the Vikos gorge. Our day will continue in the city of Veria, walking to the unique monuments of the city, such as the Byzantine Old Metropolis. Free time will be given to enjoy the beautiful taverns and coffee bars of the city.
Each of our days separately:
Day 1: Flight to Thessaloniki. Arrival and pick-up. Departure via Egnatia street with an intermediate stop for coffee and we continue to the city of Ioannina. There we will have the opportunity to visit the island of the lake and take a walk in the beautiful city as well as in the alleys of the castle. Free food and in the early afternoon we will depart for the picturesque Monodendri. There we will check into the hotel and spend the night.
Day 2: Breakfast and we will start a walk to the Holy Monastery of Agia Paraskevi (about 800m route) from where we will have an amazing view of the Vikos Canyon. Then we will leave for a visit to some of the most beautiful villages in the area. We will admire the wild natural beauty of the landscape, the traditional architecture of the houses, and the arched bridges. The first stop will be the Gardens, a short stop for coffee and photos at the famous Kokkori Bridge and we continue to Tsepelovo. Tsepelovo is the hometown of Yiannis Vilaras and Marika Kotopoulis. We will have time to tour the central square of the village, with the uniquely beautiful bell tower and the important frescoes. Time for lunch and in the afternoon return to Monodendri. We will stay overnight.
Day 3: After having our breakfast we will leave the hotel for the beautiful Vitsa, a little below Monodendri, where we will have time for photos and a walk in the village square. We continue along Egnatia road in the direction of Veria. We will arrive there early in the afternoon for a meal and a walking tour of the unique monuments of the city, such as the Byzantine Old Metropolis, the area of Barbuta (an old Jewish quarter with magnificent mansions and the stone building of the old Jewish synagogue with its rich and elaborate interior decoration), as well as the Vima of the Apostle Paul, the place where, according to tradition, he taught Christianity to the Bereans. The afternoon will be free so that we can enjoy the beautiful taverns and coffee bars of the city. We will stay overnight.
Day 4: Breakfast and departure for the airport. Return flight.

Note 3. In case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather conditions, the excursion is moved to another date. Participants unable to participate on that date will be refunded. However, if the weather conditions do not allow the event to occur again, the event is permanently canceled and everyone is refunded. In case of cancellation by the participants, 7 days or less before the date of the event, the money is not returned.
