Cycling in Greece began in the late 19th century. The word bicycle is Greek and means foot and push in motion, move. Historically, it does not appear, at least officially, that there is a specific inventor to whom the invention of the bicycle is attributed, nor is there a specific date. From transportation, entertainment to sports, in racing and non-racing conditions, cycling is a widespread activity around the world. From the age of 4-5, most children have started cycling, as it is the next motor experience, after walking. In some countries (Netherlands, Norway, etc.) cycling is the most popular means of transportation within the city, while worldwide the population of bicycles is estimated to exceed 1 billion!

Outdoor cycling is a hobby that offers multiple benefits to humans by combining the beneficial effects of exercise with its interaction with the external environment, either urban (roads, parks, etc.) or natural (forests, etc.). Specifically, mountain biking is a more intense activity, with specially designed bicycles (mountain bikes), as the routes include mountain trails, dirt roads, fields, forest roads on different slopes and terrains. It is divided into categories, two of which are cross country trails with ascent-descent to various terrains and natural obstacles - a sport already included in the program of the Olympic Games - and downhill. Mountain riders, who often move away from civilization to enjoy their hobby, are dominated by a strong ethic of autonomy, in which they are called upon to cope on their own in times of need (injuries, bicycle damage, etc.), as any provision of assistance is far away!

As for the equipment of a cyclist, in addition to the bike, it should be the helmet (no matter how short the route to be done), sneakers, and an item of comfortable clothing (comfortable leggings, overalls, etc.). Specifically for the latter, the leggings may not be the absolute priority of a cyclist, however, the inner lining of the leggings is. When we start cycling, the bones of the pelvis are not used to supporting the whole weight of the body and we have an unpleasant sensation in this area. This is largely solved with a pair of leggings with a small pillow, so it is something that is suggested at the beginning. Over time, it becomes necessary, because possibly the hours and kilometers we do with the bike can be greatly increased. Depending on the distance of the route to be followed may require from a hermit crab to second clothes, while in the case of long trips to remote areas, emergency supplies, and repair equipment are strictly recommended. In addition, if driving in the dark we make sure that the bike and clothing have the necessary reflectors and that there are headlights.
